Why does the Melee take 5 business days to complete?

It's been made completely useless in PVP, when I run out of my 6 shots of shotgun ammo mid-fight, I have to go for the melee but because it takes like 3 seconds to do they are able to kill me.....

Am I suppose to tell them to wait til I finish reloading my gun? 🤣🤣🤣

What FPS do you guys get on reloaded as a maximum?

Steam or Xbox app?

I've always played Gears via the xbox app before but I heard steam is much better?

I would like your thoughts on this please
