CONTROLLER OVERHEATING (IMP)

Hey everyone,
Having a serious heat issue with my 2026 KuKirin G4 controller and looking for some advice/technical insights from anyone who knows their way around high-power ESCs.
The Situation:
Factory Setup: Stock thermal pads were performing horribly. Temps were hitting up to 128°C (262°F) during heavy rides.
Mod: I swapped out the factory pads for fresh thermal pads.
The Result: Controller temps dropped to a max of 102°C (215°F).
The Issue: The bottom of the aluminum deck directly beneath where the controller sits now gets EXTREMELY hot—sometimes almost too hot to touch. It feels like the old pads were acting as an insulator, and now the frame is absorbing all that dumped heat.
(I've attached photos showing before and after the repad, plus the general placement inside the compartment).
A few questions for the community:
1. Is 102°C still way too high? What is a "normal" operating temperature range for the KuKirin G4 controller, and what is considered the maximum safe peak limit before damage or thermal throttling sets in?
2. Deck heat: Is the frame getting scorching hot normal after improving thermal transfer, or did I miss something?
3. How can I fix this permanently? Should I look into adding a heatsink, using copper shims instead of thick thermal pads, using thermal paste directly to the metal deck, or modifying the compartment for better airflow/cooling?
Appreciate any help or tips from anyone who has managed to cool down their G4 or similar scooters!

KUKURIN G4 CONTROLLER

Hi guys i have a kukurin g4 2026 yesterday after a 20 to between 30 minute ride going fast and going up 1 between 3 inclines (not crazy inclines) the controller temperature reached 100c and the motor was burning hot that i couldnt hold my hand on it.

is this normal for motor and controller?

is there a way to fix this?

and what can happen most?

Does the KuKirin G4 (2026) have overheat protection for the motor, controller, and battery? What temps trigger it?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking into the updated KuKirin G4 (2026 version) and want to get some real-world details on its thermal management before taking it out on longer summer rides and heavy hill climbs.
I know the 2000W single motor and controller can pull a lot of power, so I'm trying to figure out how robust the built-in overheat protection actually is across the board.
Specifically, I’m trying to confirm:
1. Controller Protection: Does the 2026 G4 have active temp monitoring on the controller?
** **If yes: At what temperature does it trigger protection, and what happens? (Does it throw an E9 error code and cut power completely until it cools down, or does it thermally throttle?)
2. Motor Protection: Is there a dedicated temperature sensor/cutoff inside the hub motor, or is it purely reliant on controller current limits?
** **If yes: What is the cutoff threshold, and does the scooter shut off or just drop power?
3. Battery / BMS Protection: Does the stock BMS include high-temperature discharge/charge protection for the 60V 20Ah pack?
** **If yes: What temp does the BMS trip at, and does it shut down the whole system or just refuse to charge while hot?
If you own a 2026 G4 (or have pushed one hard in hot weather), have you ever hit a thermal shutoff or noticed power drops? Any app readouts (like via KuKirin app/display) or teardown insights on where thermal sensors are placed would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance!

KUKURIN G4 OVERHEATING

hey guys i have a kukurin g4 2026 (i completed 1k km) and it was bought 1 month ago and i weigh 80kg.

i noticted that the motor after 20 minute rides the motor get burning hot that you cant touch it and the bottom of the deck is hot where controller is located. i installed the kukurin manager ios app and the temperature is high from 85-128c and the motor is burning hot that you cant touch it. i did open the deck and notice the controller thermal pads from factory were not good placed and incorrect so i bought some thermal pads and did them (i will send photos) after this procedure i took it for a spin the same route it used to give me the results of burning hot. and nothing changed. but after 1 week when it hit 800km or more the bottom of deck were controller is located become slightly slightly warm and motor warm but not hot. so it fixed by itself without me touching nothing or doing nothing same route same driving behavour. finally i said it was fixed until yesterday after a 30 minute ride the same issue occured again.

i will send photos of temperatures.

what is the safe temperature for controller to not be worried and from what temperature isnt normal for the controller to be at.and is it normal to hit thoose temperatures that are showed in the picture? and if not normal what should i do for controller?

Is it normal for the motor to be burning hot that you cant even touch for 3 seconds after a 20-30 minutes ride? and if not normal what should i do for the motor?

pls help me and give me opinions thank you.
