How much for that book?

At the end of Small Favor, Harry gets a book that the Watcheman uses to communicate with him through underlined passages from the text of The Two Towers.
If Harry went on a show like Pawn Stars, how much do you think he could get for that copy, and how would he sell a book that has notes from an archangel in it?

Edit: Small Favor of course. And Watchmen instead of Watcher. Thanks for the correction

M. Dresden would have made an excellent Knight

I’m currently up to Dead Beat in my Dresden Files reread rotation, and it got me thinking about Malcolm Dresden. I’d love to hear what you all think.

I think Malcolm Dresden would probably have made an excellent Knight of the Cross.

I don’t believe he actually ever held that role, and honestly I think his story works much better if he was truly just a completely ordinary human being. But I noticed that Malcolm’s story and his relationship with Margaret LeFay have some striking parallels to Michael and Charity’s story:

- Both are (or were) genuinely good people. In Michael’s case we get to witness it ourselves; Malcolm is described by Ebenezer in Blood Rites as “a man with a good soul, like few I have ever seen.”
- Both met their future wives while those women were involved with a dark organization or cult.
- Both offered them an alternative path and ended up building a family with them.

Like I said, I doubt this parallel is meant to imply that Malcolm was secretly a Knight of the Cross. But I do think it provides a really nice explanation for why Harry and Michael understand each other so instinctively. Harry may have grown up without his father, but the kind of man Malcolm was seems very similar to the kind of man Michael is.

What do you think about these parallels? Do you think this is just a thematic similarity, or could there be deeper implications for the series?
