Replacement Portal won't connect calls - HELP
My elderly Mum has been using the portal for probably 5 years or so. I've had to replace it at times, due to breakages, and never had a problem setting a new one up.
Yes, many of the features have been removed, but it remains essential for her as it is set up to connect her with all family and friends, many of whom live far away.
I have just paid £150 for a replacement Portal, but cannot get it to work. She uses messenger, and everything is set up as it was before, but it won't connect the calls (video calls). It rings once and cuts off.
I've been through various troubleshooting options, and nothing is working. It ran an update initially and says it's up to date. I've left it overnight to see if it uploads any patches but it still won't connect calls today. To anyone.
I know this item is discontinued, but I thought the basic function of video calling could still be set up. It's so concerning as she feels isolated without this. I've bought an Amazon echo 8 for her, but she can't work it. She needs something that lets her press the names or faces of the people she wants to call. I'd even sent portals to her family so that she could call them.
Can anyone offer a solution, or is the portal no longer an option at all?
