I’m a Mechanical Engineering student and I’m trying to retake MA 162 over the summer. I took it freshman year and got a C, but I want to replace it with an A because it would help my GPA and possibly my eligibility for future programs like 4+1.

My advisor told me I’m not eligible to retake it because students can only retake a course if they received a C- or lower. The confusing part is that UniTime still lets me add the course to my summer schedule.

Has anyone been in a similar situation where the system let you register even though your advisor said you were not eligible? If I take and complete the course anyway, would the new grade count, or would it not replace the old grade? Any advice would be appreciated.
