Shedding "J" or "L" shaped hairs during post-op. Is this normal or a bad sign? (Pic attached)
Hey everyone. I'm currently going through the shedding phase of my hair transplant (I am currently at 20 days post-op).
I’ve noticed that the vast majority of the hairs falling out have this exact "J" or "L" hook shape at the proximal/root end, just like the one in the attached photo. There is no bleeding, no pain, and no fleshy/gelatinous tissue attached to the bend—just the bare hair strand.
I’d love to get some insights from those who have experienced this or know the technical side:
- Does this mean the grafts were bent or poorly handled during implantation (J-grafts)?
- Is this just the dead hair shaft shedding, meaning the follicle/root is safe underneath?
- For those who shed hairs like this, did they grow back straight and normal later on?
Thanks in advance for the help.
