Should I get a root canal before my trip?
Recently, I went to the dentist about a tooth (upper molar) that had previously been filled and had been causing me slight pain for about 2 months. They took an X-ray and told me that, because of its history and the depth of the filling, the only way to fix it would be a root canal. However, the tooth is not dead, as I can still feel a cold sensation, and it is not incredibly painful, and thus the dentist does not want to do the procedure and only wants to leave me with emergency antibiotics. My problem is I am heading to Asia for 3 months in 2 weeks and am quite worried that the tooth will become infected or get significantly worse while I'm gone (and in a country where I don't speak the language). My dentist told me that if I really think its necessairy, I can still do the canal before I leave, but it's a big financial impact on me, and I would prefer to leave it for when I can better afford it. Should I leave the tooth and take the risk of travelling with it, or should I just take the loss and do the canal to be safe?
