My nana had her money confiscated, weird or not?

So my grandmother (aged 57) went to buy me some drinks because I was working (I’m an adult) and couldn’t do it before the store closed (Small town, store closes really early on Saturdays)

The police officer standing outside (to check ID’s) didn’t bother to check hers until after she had already bought the alcohol ($90) and confiscated not only my alcohol but ALSO the REFUND that the store gave her….

Confiscated the alcohol due to an alcoholic uncle (grandmother’s son) which I lowkey understand (She told me she did kinda have an attitude with the officer because of confiscation) but the part I don’t understand, is the officer taking her money.

Is that weird or am I just biased?
