Student Visa Extension - Germany
Hi everyone,
I’m an international student currently studying for my master’s degree in Germany, and I have a question regarding student visa extension/residence permit renewal.
I arrived in Germany on 01.04.2026, and my current visa is only valid for 1 year. However, my master’s program is normally 2 years long, so I will need to extend my visa for the second year.
My concern is about proof of financial resources. At the moment, I do not have a work contract or regular income to show. However, I do have around €5000–€6000 in savings in my personal bank account.
Would it be possible to use these savings, add the remaining amount needed, open a blocked account, and then use that blocked account as proof of finances when applying for the extension?
Has anyone been in a similar situation or successfully extended their student residence permit this way?
Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!
