This won't make sense anywhere else

Papanasam won't make any sense anywhere else apart from India. Because the girl's honor is still more important even though she didn't do anything. Like the mom and daughter didn't even stop to think it's not their fault. They go straight to begging because the video can't come out in public.

I didn't fault them here because the movie-going public side with them here and would have done the same if they are in the same position. I am questioning why the situation still persists?

Another example is chitti saving the girl from fire in Enthiran. Anywhere else people would have rushed to cover her and get her first aid. What happens in the movie is something else. Chitti questioned that and Dr. Vasi was like yeah, you're wrong because this is India.

Are Indians still viewing women as an extension of some so-called honors rather than humans first?

Are there any examples where the movie won't work unless it happened in India because India is still stuck in another century than in 2026?
