Second ICCU replacement in a year
Hi, long time listener first time caller.
We have a 2023 Ioniq 5 we bought in November of '22. We generally love the car, but have had such shitty luck with its ICCU, here are the issues in chronological order.
- Level 2 charging overheats so that car (thanks to a firmware update) downgrades the charging to a lower current.
- The 12v battery drained on us a few times. I forgot what the service entailed, but they somehow fixed that. It was a new 12v battery at least, maybe a new ICCU?
- The car fully crapped out on us and needed to be towed to our shop where it waited for 6 weeks for an ICCU to arrive on backorder.
- The car blared electirc warnings last week 120 miles away from home, we had to have it towed where it sits in the shop now awaiting its next ICCU.
Feels the the accumulative time this car spent in the shap is disproportionately long compared to how long we own it. Plus it is nice to know that when you climb into it and start driving it will actually do its job and go. We feel less and less certain of that.
We live in Seattle, what options do we have? I know that the model year is infamous for ICCU trouble. Seems like selling it and buying a new one that is not plagued with these first gen issues is not a wise financial move, and i think we are not illegible for Lemon laws. What course of action would you take?
