Hi all, sharing my experience applying for PCCs for myself and my wife as part of a Gulf job visa process. Hope this saves someone time and avoids the wrong rabbit holes.

Who this applies to: Domicile of Navi Mumbai / Maharashtra applying for a job visa to Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, etc.)

⚠️ IMPORTANT – Avoid Maharashtra Police Clearance Seva

Do NOT apply through Maharashtra Police Clearance Seva (mahaonline). This certificate is not accepted for Gulf visa/immigration purposes. Gulf employers and embassies require the PCC issued by the Passport Office, not the state police portal.

✅ Correct Portal – Passport Seva

Apply through the official Passport Seva portal: 🔗 https://www.passportindia.gov.in/psp

Step-by-Step Process:

1. Register / Log in on the Passport Seva portal using the same account you used for your passport application
2. Apply for PCC – Under "Apply for Police Clearance Certificate", fill in the online application form
3. Pay the fee online – it was ₹500 per applicant at the time of our application; confirm the current fee on the portal
4. Book an appointment at a convenient Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office PSK (POPSK). Navi Mumbai residents are mapped to nearby PSKs, but you can also check slots at PSKs across Mumbai and book whichever has the earliest availability. I got a next-day appointment at Lower Parel PSK this way
5. Documents to carry on appointment day:
   • Original passport + self-attested photocopy (first & last pages, plus any ECR/observation pages)
   • Printed appointment confirmation
   • Aadhaar card as address proof
6. Biometrics & document verification will be completed at the PSK on the day of your appointment
7. Police verification – For PCC, this is typically done at your local police station rather than a physical home visit. Ensure your Aadhaar address matches your current residence to avoid delays. My verification was handled at Khandeshwar Police Station — the staff were professional and courteous. For my spouse's application, we were additionally asked to provide a society letter confirming residence and a family NOC consenting to the overseas job
8. Receive your PCC – Once cleared, the certificate is dispatched by Speed Post to your registered address. You can track the status anytime on the Passport Seva portal.
