BE AWARE

Title: Are we seriously giving away our student portal credentials to every other app now?

When did this become so normal?

Every other week there's a new app claiming to be the ultimate SRM companion. Attendance, marks, timetable, everything. At this point, I think we've got 20-30 different versions of the same thing floating around.

And the funny part? People don't even think twice before entering their student portal ID and password.

Like, do we actually know how these apps handle our credentials? Where they're stored? Who has access to them? Some have thousands of users, some are even charging for subscriptions, but how many students have ever bothered checking the security side of things?

We've already had credential-related security concerns come up before. Are we really just going to ignore all that?

Also, genuine question, when did everyone stop using Academia and SRM Scope?

I get it, third-party apps can have better UI and additional features. Nothing wrong with that. But is a slightly better dashboard really worth handing over your university credentials to yet another platform?

Not saying all these apps are shady, but maybe we should stop treating our student portal login like some random sign-up credential.

Just something to think about.
