Introducing Digital Havamal 2.0!

Finally live.

Everything that’s free and open source is now completely free and open source. Crawford’s is still behind a paywall but I removed the store from the action button and to the settings page. Should be way more tasteful.

Second. Bug fixes. Many. Let me know if you find anything.

Third.

Jump to has been implemented. Also random stanza has been added too.

And also an apology.

I have a whole other post about my feelings about the good vs bad with AI and I’m generally on the side of ai haters the truth is, us software engineers engineered ourselves out of jobs.

So I got owned by the robot. I have to be in good relation with it because AI code based extensions are coming and they better be good. Even if I still hand code things there’s no telling what’s going into my dependencies. So. This product does contain AI solved problems. Sorry.

Digital Havamal 2.0 in review!

Just an FYI, version 2.0 is coming and it's not what I previewed. I managed to mangle the build on that version, and fixed the build on the previous version simultaneously somehow.

Unifying our path?

It’s something of a through line in comments by other pagans around reddit and other parts of the internet that if we could get something going if we just unified. Not centralized. I’m not talking about the Asatru Pope here.

Unified.

Looser confederations of groups and kindreds can probably get a lot done if we only had the kind of leadership and project management skills that would enable this.

In this unification we can set forth explicitly both inclusion of self identity and inclusion of faith in the fabric of the unity in question. We don’t have to agree how to do heathenry. We just have to agree to do heathenry together. How that looks is infinite. The sky’s the limit. As long as we negotiate between each other how we want to accomplish big goals, we can achieve anything we put our muscle behind.

As long as we agree on it.

Trying to do things on our own and disconnected from each other is how we wear ourselves out and get very little for our efforts.

I think there’s already good work being done in this space between the Asatru Community, The Troth and the Fellowship of Fire and Ice. I believe it just needs to go further. These kinds of things are like herding cats and I think that in time, we will be able to get there. We just need to be unity minded first. Once we are all on board with doing difficult things like raising hofs and getting like pagan pride events done become easier. Not easy. It’ll never be easy; but it will be easier than whatever it is we try to do on our own.

So let me explain. I want yall to shoot this down. It’s been circling the back of my head.

Look I asked the AFA on X/Twitter when they’d build Freya’s Hof. Ten years plus down the line they said. Well. Something got into me thinking…

Land is surprisingly cheap an hour outside of Las Vegas at around 30 to 50k an acre. So are the kinds of prefab buildings you’d place on such land. Totaling about 120k out the door.

Why not build a hof there?

It’s not going to be in the middle of nowhere either. It’s going to be near a major city with major city accommodations and infrastructure.

Ultimately it’s going to be a shack in the middle of the desert. And it’s not much to look at. But it’ll be ours. An open inclusive hof dedicated to Freya near one of the most glamorous destinations on earth.

I think it’s not a bad long term plan to work towards. I don’t have to eat that 120k all at once either.

But I want nitpicks. I want to be talked out of it. I want criticism. Bring it.

So I recently got curious and watched Victory never sleeps and in addition to having a huge laugh over how bad the teaching is over there I noticed they had websites for each of their hofs and the naming scheme was predictable <god>hof.org.

So I thought. Who owns freyashof.org?

Oh?

No one?

And for 20 bucks a year I can annoy awful people?

Well then.

Why not?
