Is there something Wrong with my puppys coat?
Hi everyone, this is my first Bernese Mountain Dog. He is 4 months old, weighs 14 kg (about 31 lbs), and his name is Bak.
I’m worried that there might be something wrong with his coat. At first, I thought it was just his undercoat coming in, but now it seems like I’m noticing some gray hairs on his back and tail, which has me a little concerned.
Until recently, he was eating Calibra beef-based puppy food. Now that he has turned 4 months old, I have switched him to Calibra Junior beef formula, which is designed for dogs from 4 to 30 months of age. I also give him calcium supplements.
We go for walks 3–4 times a day. After each walk, I wipe his paws with dog-friendly wet wipes and brush his coat. I apply paw cream three times a week, and I clean his ears every two weeks.
I have bathed him three times so far using Animology Puppy Shampoo.
This is my first Bernese Mountain Dog, so I may be overreacting a little and being an overly worried owner. Everything may be completely normal, but I would really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences, as well as any advice on nutrition, coat care, and anything else you think is important for a first-time Bernese owner to know.
