BLS Spain London accepted application without notarized sponsorship letter – anyone else?
Hi everyone,
I recently applied for a Spain Schengen visa through BLS London along with my wife, and I wanted to understand others’ experiences regarding sponsorship documents and how strict BLS/Spain consulate has been in practice.
In our case:
I am sponsoring my wife’s trip.
We submitted a signed sponsorship letter along with marriage certificate, my bank statements, employment letter, payslips, etc.
However, the BLS staff mentioned that the sponsorship letter should ideally be notarized by a lawyer and said the consulate might contact us later if required. They still accepted the application and completed biometrics.
I wanted to ask:
Has anyone here successfully received a Spain Schengen visa from BLS London without a notarized sponsorship letter (especially spouse sponsorship)?
Did the Spain consulate later ask you to notarize it after submission?
How strict has Spain BLS London been recently regarding notarization?
Also, another thing that confused me:
Since my wife and I applied together, the BLS staff said they would treat it as a “single/family application” and therefore did not separately retain copies of my passport, previous visas, employment letter, payslips, etc. in my wife’s application set.
They said those documents were already part of my application and did not need duplication.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this standard practice or could it become an issue later during processing?
Would really appreciate hearing recent experiences from people who applied through Spain BLS London.
Thanks!
