I recently started to learn about vedic astrology. Most of my foundations come from hellenistic/medieval sources, but I'm really eager to learn astrology from a vedic perspective.

As I understand, Shani is the personification of Saturn. He rules over time, karma, retribution, sorrow, humility... So it makes so much sense that solely Saturn is in charge of karma.

However, I've seen a few astrologers (mostly tropical) say that your whole chart is your karma and it shouldn't be attributed only to Saturn.

What are your thoughts on that? If you have good readings for this topic, I'll gladly take your suggestions.
