My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica from August the 13th until September the 3rd, this is the planned itinerary.

We like a more slow-paced trip and are planning to rent a car. However I'm not quite sure yet whether I should rent a car directly from the start or do Tortuguero & Puerto Viejo by a bus and then rent a car after Puerto Viejo, as I expect that the car would not be needed in the area of Puerto Viejo (definitely not in Tortuguero). This would save a lot of money. Can anyone advise me here?

Also, I'm still doubting whether I should do 5 nights in Puerto Viejo or 5 nights in Uvita, what would you recommend? :)
