Immigrating to Canada from the US
Hey everybody, so i had a meeting with an immigration lawyer today and it didn't go at all how i expected it to. Basically she told me that I can only possibly immigrate to Canada in 1 of 2 ways. Either the marriage route and have my spouse sponsor me or through an LMIA closed work permit for both Levis/Quebec City (my preferred area to live) and for Ottawa. I know Quebec has their own set of rules within the Canadian government with it being a French speaking province. But do I need that for Ottawa as well? I've already submitted my Déclaration d'intérêt through the Arrima portal but I know that can take forever and i have to resubmit it after a year if my name never gets drawn. I've already applied to a bunch of different places in the hopes they offer LMIA and i had 2 places give me an interview. One place I didn't know enough French at the time so i completely understand. The other place had mostly English speaking people which is great but they already have their max amount of LMIA workers they can hire but they're going to keep me on file possibly at the top of the list. They even requested that I have my boss send them a letter of recommendation. So we'll see how that goes but even though it seemed good I'm not gonna get my hopes up and put all my eggs in one basket. So I was looking into possibly trying to go directly through the IRCC website and seeing if i can do the Express Entry for Skilled Workers, Tradespeople since I know Welding is always in such high demand not just in Quebec but throughout Canada but even that is confusing to me and I want to make sure i get all the paperwork done right the first time for the best chance at being accepted. If anyone has any idea what the best course of action I should take is or can at least point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I honestly feel like I'm beating a dead horse at this point so any tips or ideas i can get i won't be able to thank you enough lol
