You will never convince me Barb isn’t one of those psycho mother in laws
We all know how dramatic and overbearing Barb appeared to be on the show, and the weird stories we heard about her encouraging Peter’s hookups in the house and cooking breakfast for them the next morning. She also comments on every one of his posts and always is trying to be front and center with every girl he dates. Now he posts his newest Gf and Barb is sooo happy and screenshots one of his posts to make her own immediately after but part of me thinks she needs to involve herself this way to feel like she isn’t left out because she does have such a dysfunctional relationship with her sons. She’s giving the type of MIL who runs to him for a hug right after a gender balloon is popped instead of letting the couple have their moment. Her “support” and love for these girls really makes me think that she’s extremely difficult to deal with, and if Barb isn’t absolutely head over heels to the moon with you she will be your worst nightmare. And Peter is not coming off as a man who would stand up to her to validate his future wife or mother of his children.
Also side note. Peter’s younger brother seemingly has delt with the same thing, but i remember reading his wife doesn’t really have much of her own family so I feel she can “fit in well” to the mold barb wants. But if another girl with more of strong personality or her own family wanting to go there some holidays or miss certain things or just do their thing off on their own without involving family will eventually send Barb into a tailspin. I have seen mother in laws like this and she checks all these boxes from just what I see online.
