New Bug - Firefox - Disabling AutoPlay causes core to max out and massive memory consumption
This bug appeared about two days ago. I reproduced the issue on multiple machines and multiple versions of Firefox (115 ESR, 128 ESR, 140 ESR) with all extensions disabled. I am not asking for help with it. I am just letting others know in case they run into the same issue.
To reproduce the bug, disable autoplay in Firefox (video and audio) and go to a streamer's page who isn't currently live. Observe the CPU and memory usage. You will find that the core is nearly maxed out and memory consumption will grow rapidly (got to 9gb before I close the tab or kill it).
The initial symptoms observed (aside from the resource usage) were that the video controls for a VOD didn't seem to respond (very delayed), audio didn't load as expected, very poor performance.
With autoplay enabled, repeat the steps and you will not see this behavior.
I am only posting this because it took me a while to figure out what was going on and I wanted to potentially save someone else the trouble.
