I reached out to a potential supervisor and had my first meeting with them. They responded enthusiastically to my email and set up a time. This would be for a humanities PhD. The meeting didn’t go badly, I thought, and it lasted an hour. It was a bit awkward, but that’s to be expected (?). He suggested I slightly shift the focus of my proposal to a topic that had been under researched.

They gave me a long list of people to read or look into, and then sort of ended it on: keep me posted with your plans or progress (I can’t remember now the exact phrasing).

Is that a positive sign or not?
