What's up again!

I'm still making progress on the S23 Ultra to Micro PC mod. I've already removed:

✅ Cameras (front and rear)

✅ Speakers (top and bottom)

Everything is still working perfectly. In fact, I tested it with Genshin Impact on high settings and it runs super smoothly even without the final cooling.

My technical question: I received two copper sheets (15x15cm, 0.3mm) and nanographene stickers. I plan to wrap the entire motherboard with Kapton tape to prevent short circuits, but:

How do you recommend attaching the copper sheet to the motherboard/processor? Any thermal adhesive you'd recommend, or would it be better to apply mechanical pressure with the case? By the way, I'm wondering if I should start a YouTube channel or something to show you the whole process and the tools I'm using. What do you think?

Hey everyone, again!

Here's an update on my S23 Ultra -> DeX Station project. I've already removed everything that's not needed for a "PC":

✅ Video cable

✅ NFC module

✅ S-Pen holder and bottom speaker.

The system boots up perfectly via HDMI. Now I'm waiting for some 0.3 mm copper plates and I already have the Kapton tape ready for insulation.

My question:

What do you recommend for the contact between the processor and the copper?

Classic thermal paste (like MX-6)?

High-conductivity thermal pads?

Or should I play it safe with Honeywell PTM7950?

I'm looking for something that won't pump out and that I won't have to open up for maintenance. Any tips are welcome!

Hey everyone!

I have a quick update on my project to convert the S23 Ultra into a Micro PC with DeX. I've already started the "lightening" phase of the hardware, and the results are coming along nicely.

What I've already removed (and is still working):

So far, I've removed the video flex cable (obviously, there's no screen anymore), the NFC module, the S-Pen holder, and the bottom speaker. The system boots perfectly via HDMI and hasn't given me any hardware errors or gotten stuck in a boot loop.

What's next:

I ordered some 0.3 mm copper plates to build a custom cooling system. I already have my Kapton tape ready to insulate everything and prevent short circuits, because the board is going to be very compact.

Here's where I need your advice:

I'm trying to decide what to use to attach the processor and the integrated circuits to the copper plates.

Would you recommend a classic thermal paste (like Arctic MX-6)?

Or would it be better to use some good quality thermal pads to fill the gaps?

I've heard a lot about the Honeywell PTM7950 (phase-change fan). Has anyone tried it on this type of phone mod?

I'm looking for something that doesn't need to be replaced every six months, since the idea is for the case to be permanently sealed. Any tips on heat management for such small circuit boards are welcome!
