So I just skimmed through a book that made my head reel, and I need to talk about it.

The FL is 20, a student. The ML is 28, her professor. She has a crush on him. One day at some event, their drinks get spiked and they end up sleeping together. 🤡

As usual, she gets pregnant. He suggests an abortion, they go to the hospital but here is the twist, she has a phobia of hospitals and needles, so they drop the plan. She can't handle a injection but can carry a full term pregnancy, fair! Her family finds out and abuses her, so of course the ML marries her to "save" her.

Here's another twist though: he has a girlfriend. He loves her a lot. He justifies the night to her by saying he was drugged, they argue, and then he proceeds to paint portraits of his ex and pine for her and meet her while the FL watches and pines for HIM.

At one point, the two of them get suspected at the university of being in an illicit affair. The FL boldly declares they're married and asks the principal to examine their marriage certificate. The principal just agrees. Ofc the professor who raised the query is evil, because only evil people are logical.

Then some drama. Then the girlfriend goes abroad forever to move on, no other mention of her after that. And yep he and the FL fall in love and are going to welcome the baby together. Happy ending.

The author names it as depth, complexity and one sided love and the book glorifies it.

It only made me roll my eyes.

P.S : Not naming the book deliberately. I just wanted to get this off my head. If you know you know. 😭
