I wanted some advice. I am an American that has recently been accepted to a program for doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I have my undergraduate and graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I have over 10 years of experience within residential, child welfare and school based services. I am really excited at the possibility of studying with an actually working framework compared to the American system, where cuts to mental heath services are happening daily. It is an expensive undertaking, because most counselling psych programs are unpaid, and I would be responsible for finding clinical placements. But I am very passionate about it. Any advice on whether it’s feasible to accept? I’ve wanted this opportunity for years, but it’s a huge change in all senses of the word.
