rent hike and financial crisis desperate for help

i've been struggling to make ends meet, but i never thought it would come down to this. my landlord just gave me 60 days notice that the rent is being increased by 40%. the new amount is $400 more than i can afford without going into debt.

i've been a responsible tenant for four years, always paying on time and taking good care of the property. but now, it seems like the rug's been pulled from under me. i'm not sure if there are any options available to me or if i'll have to accept this drastic increase.

the thing is, moving costs money renter's insurance, utilities, new furniture... everything adds up quickly. and with no savings and a dwindling bank account, the thought of scraping together enough cash for a security deposit, first month's rent, and all that comes with starting over from scratch is overwhelming.

i'm not sure what to do or where to turn. any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated. i don't want to lose my home, but i also can't afford this new price without compromising my financial stability.

tl;dr 40% rent hike with 60 days notice, cannot afford increased cost, seeking help and advice on what options are available to me
