Goldman Sachs start date postponed after getting all Day 1 details — has this happened to anyone?

Hi everyone, I’m supposed to join Goldman Sachs as a contingent worker through a well-known staffing firm in the Salt Lake City office.

Everything was going normally. I interviewed with the GS team, was selected, received the offer, and my Sterling background check was completed.

I also completed the GS onboarding and received my GS login details, SSO/authentication codes, online orientation information, and other onboarding details.

My start date was supposed to be Monday, September 21. On Friday morning, I received all my Day 1 details from GS, including the reporting time, SLC office location, and my point of contact.

Then on Friday evening, my recruiter from the staffing firm called me and told me not to report on Monday because the client had postponed the start date due to an internal process. They said they would let me know once they had a new date.

I followed up with the staffing firm afterward, and the manager told me that the client was still completing a few additional checks and that they were waiting for a final update before confirming the new start date.

Has anyone else had something like this happen with Goldman Sachs?

I'm mainly wondering if it's common for GS to postpone someone's start date at the very last minute, even after the background check is completed and GS has already sent the login/SSO details, authentication information, online orientation, reporting time, office location, and point of contact, and then have some additional checks pending.

Just trying to understand if this happens sometimes with GS contingent roles or if it's unusual. Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar.
