other disabled folks: how has your experience been with doctors, particularly in lafayette?

EDIT: made a small change to wording. neither of us want assistance in having children and whatnot.

this is partially asking for recs and partially just to discuss.

it's rather common you hear about disabled folks who go to doctors, tell them exactly what is wrong, how long it has gone on, how it affects their daily life, literally gives them all the information they could possibly need. then, the doctor just says they don't know, say it's something else, or refuse to even do process of elimination to figure out what could even be the issue.

has that been a common occurrence for any of you? have you found anyone who doesn't dismiss? my roommate is already very sure of their symptoms and is ready to make some discoveries, but im a little concerned about some things regarding my health as well, especially after having covid several times.

if you know specialists, we could be needing help relating to endocrinology as a whole, thyroid issues, osteoarthritis, women's health. other than that, a general physician that works with their patients and advocates for them while recommending specialists would be more than great.

sorry for long post, and thanks in advance.

specialists in endometriosis?

my roommate is struggling with suspected endometriosis. the symptoms are all lining up and have been bothering them for some time. i would prefer someone for them that won't brush them off and will actually give them solutions within the scope of what we can accomplish. ideally going to be on medicaid soon, so someone who can take that is prioritized.

i know the chances are slim in this state, but still worth it to ask. ill even take specialists you know from other major cities.
