Free resource

I made another free resource for anyone preparing for the Luxembourgish Sproochentest oral interview.

The GPS Question Decoder is a one-page reference designed to help when you get a question you haven’t specifically prepared for.

Instead of trying to remember a prepared answer, the idea is to first recognize what the question is asking you to do:

Wat? / Wat fir…? → Give information
Wéini? / Wéi dacks? → Give time or frequency
Firwat? → Give a reason
Wéi? → Explain how
Hutt Dir schonn emol…? → Give an experience or example
Wat mengt Dir? / Wéi fannt Dir…? → Give your view

Then:

Understand the question → answer directly → add one relevant detail → add another if it helps → stop and listen for the next question.

The PDF is completely free and designed to keep beside you while practicing.

I also wrote a new article about how to approach a Sproochentest question you didn’t prepare for, if you want a little more explanation of the strategy.

Both are here:

Hope it helps someone with their practice!

If you’ve already taken the Sproochentest: what do you wish you had known before test day?

September testing is coming up, and there are quite a few people here getting into the final stretch of preparation.

For those of you who have already taken the Sproochentest- what do you wish someone had told you before you took it?

It could be something about:
preparing for the oral interview
understanding the questions
picture description
listening
vocabulary
nerves on the day
how you practiced
something you spent too much time studying
something you wish you had practiced more

Basically: if you could give the September group one piece of advice based on your own experience, what would it be?

Hopefully we can put together a useful thread for everyone testing soon.

Free Resource

I made a new short free resource for anyone preparing for the Sproochentest oral interview.

It’s about something I struggled with when preparing: knowing what I wanted to say, but not knowing one of the Luxembourgish words I needed.

The resource gives a few simple ways to keep answering without needing that exact word.

No email signup required- just a free download.

Hope it helps someone preparing!

I finished the first GPS Sproochentest Interview Collection

A few weeks ago I shared that I was working on some additional Sproochentest practice resources after taking the test myself this summer. I’ve now finished Collection 1 of the GPS Interview Series.

The idea is a little different from a traditional question bank.

Instead of giving you a long list of disconnected questions, I organized the practice into structured interviews so you can practice recognizing where questions are going, answering naturally, adding detail, handling follow-up questions, and moving from one part of an interview to another.

Collection 1 is available now, and I’ve also made the individual themes available separately. So if you only want to practice a particular area, you don’t have to purchase the whole collection.

These are original, independent practice materials. They aren’t official INLL materials, and they aren’t intended to represent “the questions” anyone will receive on the test.

Since this is the first launch, I’m also doing a small launch special:

10% off your first Interview Series purchase with code LAUNCH10 through August 16.

Everything is available at GPSLuxembourgish.com.

And if your test is coming up soon — good luck! 🇱🇺

Looking for a few volunteers to help me test a structured oral interview feedback process

Hi everyone! I passed the July Sproochentest and one of the things that helped me most while preparing was recording practice answers and getting feedback on them. That experience inspired me to develop a structured review process for practice interviews.

Before I officially offer it, I’d like to work with a few volunteers who are preparing to take the exam.

If you’re willing to receive questions, record a short practice interview, I’ll provide detailed written feedback at no charge. In return, I’m simply looking for honest feedback about whether the process is useful, what’s clear, and what could be improved.

There’s no obligation and no expectation to purchase anything afterward. I’ll probably limit it to 5 volunteers so I can spend enough time with each person.

If you’re interested, feel free to send me a DM or comment.

Sproochentest- 4th document disappeared?

Has anyone had their 4th document disappear? I took the test on July 1st, got the 4th document and it disappeared today. Wondering if anyone else has seen the same thing?
