Insanely Clutch Challenge Run

Insanely Clutch Challenge Run

Got insanely lucky in the last leg of the run. Managed to craft a >!Power Hammer!< really late game with like 30 steps or so left in the Workshop in the west wing. Made my way all the way outside,>!hit the lever in the Basement!<, and made my way back without much hope to the Entrance Hall, where I had like 6 steps left. My friend who I was streaming the game to recommended I check out the Commissary for any strings I could grasp at and there was a Sleep Mask there, which got me to Security with one step via visiting the Bedroom. Decided to cap off the closely failed run by sprinting into the Corridor towards the Boudoir.

Apparently >!gaining steps during the blacking out animation from hitting 0 steps shunts you back into the game!<????? Both my friend and I are far enough in this game to be working on completing >!The Atelier!< and neither of us had any idea about that interaction. Thankfully between that and Bunk Room it was more than enough from there to cinch it. Never thought a mellow puzzle game like this could cause such an adrenaline rush but hell yeah.

If you're part of Team #1227 don't read this, obviously!

Been wanting to do this for a long time and finally had enough to just barely start it during our last session. Still have some rules and puzzles to hammer out, but it's looking good so far. Very happy with how the room tiles work and how easy they are to put on the grid. The basic setup is that an architecture-focused bard has lost control of her magic due to the murder of her husband and is warping her manor in strange ways and it's up to the party to delve in and help her. Partially inspired by BP, the real-life Winchester Mystery House, and House of Leaves.

There are some differences due to DnD 5e being a combat game. Moving between rooms drains one HP and on the even ranks they have to force at least one red room draft which all have combat encounters with a fitting type of monster in them. The main challenge is honestly for them to squeeze out as much treasure out of the place as possible, since all of the other rooms have their own effects and puzzles leading to items and gold. Excited to see if they'll try and fill all of the rooms out to maximize their benefit.
