New hire
So I very recently got a job at Costco. I took a risk and left my decent full time job to work there since Costco is supposed to be a great company. The issue is that I applied for baker, they hired me as a bakery wrapper/cleaner and I didn’t find out till after the fact. This is common for them to start everyone at the bottom. Which is fine. But had I known, I wouldn’t have taken the job. Cause unfortunately I do have physical disabilities. I’ve been baking for almost a decade now so I’ve learned how to manage my health stuff. However, cleaning is a lot harder on the body and it’s getting to the point where walking is becoming increasingly difficult. I already got spoken to about having an attitude when all I did was be honest with my coworker by telling them this wasn’t exactly what I signed up for when they asked me how I was liking the job. I tried speaking to the manager and all they told me was if I can’t do the job than they’re gonna have to let me go.
EDIT- I want to make something clear. There are two separate applications on the career website. One for baker and one for bakery wrapper. I applied for baker. Baking is pretty self explanatory so I didn’t think I’d need to ask questions especially seeing that it’s nothing I haven’t done before. I didn’t realize that I got hired as a bakery wrapper until it was too late and didn’t realize that it included cleaning until training. Like I know now that this is how they do things but if that’s the case, what’s the point in having a baker application and they should have made it more transparent during the hiring process.
