Spots on screen. Most went away after 6 weeks.... how ???

Hi

I have been using my S4U for about 2 years now. It is awesome.

However, after a few months of inactivity due to the cold, I started a print with a large object.

It came out ok-ish, some supports failed. Next print however had a lot of fails.

So I suspected an issue with the screen and took a photo of it.

The first picture is the photo I took when I encountered the issue first time. After this I decided to order a new screen, as my conclusion was, after doing some research here on reddit etc, that the screen has dead pixels.

NB: I have not yet replaced the screen!

While waiting for the screen and after seeing the horrible amount of steps the official Elegoo video shows to replace the screen (really, what idiot designs such a difficult process to replace a consumable...), I decided to just continue printing by placing all objects around the dead pixels. I lose some printable area, but meh, didn't need it.

This worked perfectly, I have printed close to 20 plates using this method.

Then this morning some objects failed.

So I thought, the screen is more broken, more dead pixels. I decided to take a new photo of the screen.

Once again, I have not yet replaced the screen!

I also have not replaced the film. It has no leaks. There is no resin on the screen.

The second photo shows the current state of the screen.

Note that all previous dead pixels are gone and a new spot has appeared.

Now, I am flabbergasted.

All posts here on Reddit say, that those spots are dead pixels.

But my experience now says otherwise.

Does anybody know what is going on?

Has anybody else encountered this strange behavior?
