First Try At Painting Fur Where There Is None

Hey everyone! This was my first time painting a fur effect where there wasn't any sculpted. Is it reading as fur at all? My kid said he didn't see anything, but he also didn't have his glasses on haha. Now I'm in my head though, did all that time I spent painting tons of tiny lines not even show? Any tips to do better next time?
