I’ve had my eye on this piece at the local thrift for 2 months and finally bought it today! It’s pretty beat up and veneer is chipping away (almost to the touch) but I just love it and want to do my best to restore its original charm.

I’m pretty much a beginner but would love advice on what to do and what NOT to do here. Especially for the larger areas of chipping, what would you recommend? What can you tell about the wood underneath the panels?
