I watched Mortal Kombat 2 last night and it included dialogue references to Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I just find it distracting how much they do this (also seen prominently in Lego Batman, Ready Player One, Space Jam 2, and more).

I find it very distracting like when Star Wars or Marvel just have a character show up just for a cameo moment. It really pulls me out of the film.
