This is a good example of true hydrostatic pressure.

After heavy rain, water builds up under the slab and around the foundation. When that pressure has nowhere to go, it starts forcing water up through the weakest point, usually the joint where the floor meets the wall.

A lot of people try to seal cracks or patch the floor, but that usually does not work long term because the pressure just finds another way in.

The issue is not just the crack. It is the water pressure underneath the floor.

Sharing this because it is one of the most misunderstood causes of basement water.
