I’m doing my first playthrough of Y, and I, without looking at the gyms or anything just thought “eh, surely this combo is the best”, but is it? Have you experienced an easier setup with other starters?

I’m at Ambrette and I’m planning to use a Malamar + the aforementioned starters (and maybe a Raichu but that depends on Thunder Stone placement) that’s all I know. What’s the best grass type I can grab somewhat early in the run?
