Another man down.

Feeling not to bad this past month so I've been able to drink down the shelf a bit.

This was my whisky of the year when it came out, and I still feel that way - enough so I almost purchased a second bottle on the secondary market a month or so ago. I think the perfect use for this would have been to add some depth and age in your own blend, it was such a potent dram. I wish I would have had a bit leftover to play with but I did not think to leave any. I stand by my 91/100.

My ratings(rating not the bottle, but how I feel about the whisky):

90/100 and up - This is a home run. I am crashing your website and knocking over baby-strollers to get a bottle. Probably pay a small premium or search secondary markets for it.

80-89 - I'm paying my own money for this and might repurchase (if possible) when I bottle kill.

70-79 - Thank you for pouring me this! No I will not be purchasing a bottle. Probably the best option at the bar though.

60-69 - Did you buy mix to go with it?

59 and lower - why even bother?

Anyone snag something worth bragging about today at the Willow Park in-store lotteries?

I didn’t pick till right at the end at Calgary. Some guy gave me their winning ticket(I think his partner already won something earlier). Was going to snag a Springbank 10 as a consolation bottle but I have like 10 of them in the basement so I gave it to a young guy who was still waiting on a win, then my original ticket was called and the guy right before me got the last Springbank 10. Picked up the Antique 107 for Mrs. Hex to try 😁

Can anyone tell me of any distilleries that sell new make in their gift shops? The missus loved the bottle of new make we purchased at Bunnahabhain in 2024 and I’m checking to see if we can pick it up at any other distilleries.

The Wine Shop in Calgary seems to have Springbank 5y 100 proof in stock online. I'm afraid I don't know anything about them as a business though.

It doesn't happen too often with me these days but these distinguished gentlemen have fallen this week.

2008 Bunnahabhain Manzanilla cask : You're going to learn a hell of a lot more about Manzanilla with this one than Bunnahabhain. Very strong cask influence. Not worth the price I paid for it but maybe if you got it at a decent discount? 78/100

Rip VanWinkle 10y : Won it at the Wine & Beyond lottery in 2023. It's really decent. Mrs. Hex's favourite bourbon. Much more enjoyable than Blantons. I just think I lean more towards a good Old Forester or E.H.Taylor than this one. Still, glad I was able to purchase and try a bottle. 81/100
