Hey r/[subreddit],

I'm an indie developer, and after months of work I'm ready to open closed beta for my app SkillGrove — a learning app that combines four things I couldn't find in one place:

Flashcards powered by FSRS-5 — the modern spaced-repetition algorithm (more efficient scheduling than classic SM-2)

Skill trees with a FIRe engine — knowledge mapped as a graph, where reviewing a parent skill implicitly reinforces related skills (inspired by Math Academy)

AI book distillation — import an EPUB, and it breaks the book into knowledge atoms, chapter summaries, and a mind map

Read → make cards instantly — highlight any passage while reading and turn it into a flashcard on the spot (or let AI generate cards from a chapter's key points)

Everything is local-first: your data stays on your device, no account needed. You bring your own AI API key (DeepSeek/OpenAI/Gemini/OpenRouter) if you want AI features.

It's early stage, so there will be rough edges — that's exactly why I want testers. Your feedback will directly shape the app.

How to join:

Send me a DM or email at shenmibaipiaonan@gmail.com with the subject "SkillGrove Beta"

I'll send you the Google Play testing link

That's it — install, try it, and tell me what breaks or what you love

No cost, no strings. Just looking for honest feedback from people who care about learning tools.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thanks for reading!
