First rewatch of Evangelion

First rewatch of Evangelion

I just finished my first re-watch of the series. I thought I never rewatched because I liked it and didn't want to change my mind. But after the last 2 episodes, I know why I didn't want to rewatch. The show peaked at episodes 18-19, when the EVAs go berserk and you find out they're wearing an armor. After that it goes downhill because they start trying to explain what's going on with the NERV, the SEELE, Adam, Lilith etc... But it's obviously a nonsensical electric boogaloo. There's hope for the series getting back on track when Kaworu appears in episode 24, but the end of that episodes seals the fate of the show. It just didn't make any sense.

The last episodes are like being scolded by a teacher for 2 hours, and then Shinji wakes up and it was just him imagining things to escape reality. No wonder Anno received death threats. It was really frustrating.

I don't know what they rushed to make all this background story in episodes 21-24. It looks like they were setting up a season 2. But then Anno had enough and threw everything in the bin with 25-26.

It's one of the most disturbing scene of the show. Misa hoping to find her old boyfriend on the Mars base. When she understands he's dead, she refuses to leave and wants to die in the base that is about to blow up.
