Pulled the trigger

It'll take some getting used to, but I did it. Saw some photos from my friends wedding and my hair was looking yikes (sweat and humidity are my natural enemies). So when I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and saw my beard trimmer decided to just go for it.

My partner is away for two weeks so hopefully it isn't to big of a shock for her.

Burn out

I feel like I already know the answer to this, but does the summer burn out this year seem worse this year?

I just got referred to, one of the few, jobs that are flying and I just don't care. Usually I'd be feeling great about a new opportunity or career advancement. But now it feels like the emotional equivalent of drinking tap water.

What does a job reference check mean to you?

My fellow Americans,

I'm not sure if this is a regional difference, a class difference, or a public sector private sector difference. In all of my public sector jobs with the federal government when a person is being hired they provide references with their application and then those references are called and are usually asked a few questions about the candidate (stuff pertinent to whatever job they are being considered for). When I mentioned this to some friends who have only worked in the private sector they were horrified and said that it might be outright illegal. They said that all a reference check should be is a call or email asking if the candidate worked at the job they said they did.

I know it's time, but need to hear it from someone else first

Noticed my hair started thinning back in college and I've tried ignoring it since. Everytime I get out of the shower, the gym, or a particularly warm day I see how thin my hair looks when wet. Deep down I know my time has come, but I think I need to hear it from the council before I breakout the clippers.
