I need to say that in a time where a lot of mangaka tend to write an uninteresting side cast hokazono is not one of them. I feel like a lot of mangaka tend to introduce a character in one arc and never properly use them or even show their face again but as we’ve seen with characters like Samura, we know Hokazono can put together an amazing(and devastating) side character >!(though if you said he’s more than a side character I’d say you’re right)!<
even Mashiro who was an insanely short lived character felt like a complete character in just 8 or 9 chapters of screen time
This all makes me especially excited for the writing he has in mind for all these other side characters that have only been lightly introduced so far there’s genuinely so much potential
ESPECIALLY for hiruhiko he’s definitely cooking up something goood with him
i for one am way too excited to see Uruha and Ibuki in action with their enchanted blades.
After seeing how Hiruhiko and Sojo used the kumeyuri and cloud gouger, I need to see the blades’ full potential when in the hands of a master swordsman (especially kumeyuri because I don’t think Uruha has “nothing but contempt for all things” like hiruhiko does)

I love how “weak” they are. i feel like in typical shonen when it comes to villain groups, said groups are always untouchably strong compared to the good guys, like the espada or the akatsuki(at least in part one of Naruto)
with the hishaku while they are much stronger than the average sorcerer they still pale in comparison to the enchanted blades and the kamunabi as a whole and are often forced to change their plans and be crafty in order to get what they want. the entire kamunabi raid was a gamble and their leader even said that it was possible they could all die there.
i feel like this makes them much more grounded as a villain group because we’re not used to the villains being underdogs and it’s really refreshing
a little bit ago I posted that “how is Chihiro going to fix the blades by himself when his father had so much help” completely forgetting that it was just Kunishige and Chihiro that forged Enten on their own meaning that there’s another way to forge them.
Then I also remembered that Shiba said the Enten was the only time that Kunishige cocreated a sword as a master swordsmith yet he’s making an enchanted blade with Subaru in the most recent chapters and Shiba is literally right there so you can’t say he didn’t know😭
It also could be that right now he just isn’t a “master” swordsmith yet or maybe since Kunishige is technically forging it on his own and Subaru is just handling everything else so Kunishige can focus, it doesn’t count as a cocreated sword? I think it’s most likely the latter but I could be forgetting something
what a yap fest but what do you guys think?
this week’s chapter was crazy and I felt so bad that Eishia was blaming herself for not being able to heal Enjin but I’m thinking this might push her to improve her ability with her vital instrument and to eventually put her name on it
Also WE hate Kyouka and free Rudo til it’s backwards
why? because he’s takeru hokazono of course
Subaru said that the tatara process needs many hands so Chihiro can’t smelt them alone unless since he’s just repairing and not making them from scratch he can do the process himself
If it’s the former then we’re probably going to see him seek out Subaru in order to repair the blades (although Subaru doesn’t have his sorcery anymore) I can’t wait for the actual blade repair arc
rest up hokazono
Since hxh is coming back soon I was reminded of the phantom troupe’s backstory that we got a while back and I forgot how much of a tearjerker it was
I can’t wait to see how the Yura assembled the hishaku and what brought them all together in the first place and why they pledged their allegiance to Yura similar to how the troupe pledged their allegiance to Chrollo
since we got a short tier list of the soga clan’s strength we can get a rough idea of who the strongest members are
akemura blitzed the group of people shown to be directly below yoshinojo and giyu.
while this doesn’t automatically mean he’s at yoshinojo/giyu level, i think it might imply that akemura might try to duel giyu at some point for the position of head of the soga clan(and obviously for his sister’s sake as well)
that sweet little akemura boy he couldn’t even hurt a fly
i mainly read shonen but all the akane/chihiro memes persuaded me into reading and it’s genuinely so good. my only issue is that I’m caught up now and I have to wait week to week for chapters😭
please go read it‼️
i know there’s gotta be a million underrated panels but I want to see them all😭
the latest chapter further contextualizes how much kunishige cared about who was able to wield his swords because of the lives he knew they could take but also that swords were necessary to protect people. He ultimately decided to create the enchanted blades to “defeat evil and protect the weak” despite his internal conflict but his swords(the magatsumi specifically) ended up taking the most innocent lives in history. It’s honestly really sad.
