Booking Sunday Night’s Main Event 2026

Booking Sunday Night’s Main Event 2026

(Remember: Bold means that someone is the winner in the match, and bold/italics means that they are either new or still champions.)

Here is what I think might be the best idea for a match card for the next SNME that’s happening in September, which is Sunday Night’s Main Event!!!

I’ve come up with a few matches of my own, based on not only from what I’ve seen on both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown, but also something that I think might actually happen at some point in the near future, but you’ll see.

Anyways, here are the 7 matches (with 1 big promo) that should happen at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6th:

  1. Jacy Jayne (c) vs Jade Cargill (Women’s United States Championship) - No DQ

Winner…and STILL THE Women’s United States Champion...Jacy Jayne!!

It was a pretty cool match between two of the newest heels in the women's division on SmackDown. Both women showed off their impressive moves, but after an insane brawl with Fatal Influence and The Baddies (B-Fab & Michin) teaming up to brawl with Tiffany, Chelsea, Charlotte, Alexa, and Tatum Paxley outside the ring, it was ultimately Jacy Jayne who pinned Cargill for the full count to retain her Women's United States Title. Jacy and Jade both shake hands to one another, as although Fatal Influence and The Baddies are not on the same page, they do have made very common enemies with most of the women in the SD locker room.

  1. The MFTs (c) vs The Vision (c) - Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga (w/Haku) vs Bron Breakker & Austin Theory (w/Maxxine Dupri and Logan Paul) - Tag Team Title Unification Match

Winners...and NEW Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions...The Vision!!! Bron Breakker & Austin Theory!!!

Yep, that's right. This has seriously been a long time coming. After nearly 2 years of keeping the RAW & SmackDown Men's Tag Team Titles separate, I think it's finally time that we go back to keeping the tag team titles in the men's division Undisputed!!! (FUN FACT: Originally I was going to have the MFTs win, but then I remember that the Usos became Undisputed Tag Team Champions back in 2022. So, if I made the MFTs the UTTCs, it would be like crowning the Usos their tag team titles AGAIN! And I seriously didn't want that) However, this time, it will be a permanent change, as honestly, after TKO/WWE released so many good tag teams, I feel like that it would be better to merge both RAW and SmackDown's Tag Team Championships together into the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships once again, but for good this time.

Anyways, the WWE Tag Team Titles "Winner Take All" match was pretty solid (8/10 mostly). Both tag teams went all out on each other, even if The Vision had a better advantage than the MFTs did. The end of the match was very surprising though. As Maxxine Dupri was distracting the ref, Bronson Reed makes his grand return and helps The Vision by attacking Talla Tonga from behind. This distracted Tama Tonga, and gave Bron Breakker the chance to line for a spear!!! Austin Theory then pinned Tama Tonga for the full count to become the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champs.

However, as The Vision were celebrating their victory, Bron Breakker hands over his Undisputed Tag Team Titles to Logan Paul (from now on, the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions are Logan Paul & Austin Theory, as Bron Breakker has some "beef" that he needs to deal with), and then storms off backstage. Bronson Reed follows him shortly afterwards, concerned about his main ally in The Vision. In a backstage segment that happens after the match, Reed asks Breakker what's wrong. Bron Breakker sighs, then explains to Reed that Oba Femi is in the building tonight, and he has very serious business to do with him. Bron asks Reed if he could help him with this, to which he agrees to help.

So yeah, the Vision become the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions, and will now defend their titles not only at some PLEs, but also on both RAW and SmackDown as well.

  1. Becky Lynch vs Stephanie Vaquer - #1 Contenders Match for a Women's World Championship Shot at Money in the Bank 2026

Winner...and the #1 Contender to face Liv Morgan for the WWE Women's World Championship at Money in the Bank..."The Man" Becky Lynch!!!

In order to decide who will face Liv Morgan at Money in the Bank for a shot at the Women's World Championship, Adam Pearce agrees to let Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer earn that title shot for MITB in a #1 Contenders Match to happen at SNME on Sunday. Best part is that Liv Morgan is invited to watch the match as a "special guest" to see who she faces at Money in the Bank.

Both women do pretty well going into the match, but it was ultimately Becky Lynch who earned the title shot when she did a Man Handle Slam to Vaquer and pinned her for the full count. Liv Morgan, surprisingly, didn't even attack both of them because to her, it was more fun to watch them fight each other for a spot at her Women's World Championship.

Becky Lynch then gets a mic out, sending a brutally verbal message to Liv Morgan about what's going to happen to her Women's World Title at the Money in the Bank: She's not only going to win that championship gold, but also show to everyone how much of a "cowardly champion" she really is to the entire world! Becky Lynch ends her promo by saying, "I'll see you at Money in the Bank.", then dropping her mic and then leaving the ring. Liv Morgan got that message loud and clear.

  1. Chad Gable (c) vs Big Cass - Intercontinental Championship Match

Winner...and STILL THE Intercontinental Champion...Chad Gable!!!

Big Cass mostly dominated the Intercontinental Title match, but Chad Gable did try his absolute hardest to make sure that he didn't win the title that he always wanted to keep around for a very long time. However, at the end of the match, as Big Cass was about to go for one last East River Crossing to Chad Gable, Je'von Evans and Dragon Lee arrived on the scene to ambush Big Cass with a double high-flying Missile Dropkick off the top ropes to the 7-foot monster while the referee was distracted. After a Running Dropkick to the lower leg and a Springboard Cutter to his head, Je'von Evans & Dragon Lee then left the ring. Chad Gable saw the knocked down Big Cass getting back up, and this gave him a chance to do his signature Ankle Lock to the leg that Dragon Lee kicked. Big Cass then glares at both of his enemies, as he finally taps out and the bell rings.

After the Intercontinental Championship match was done, Big Cass was about ready to attack both Evans and Lee for distracting him, but then suddenly, the lights go dark. For a few moments, there was absolute silence, as the crowd anticipates on what might happen next. Then...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYJDjsZH-ic&list=RDuYJDjsZH-ic&start_radio=1

OH MY GOD!!! ENZO AMORE IS BACK, AFTER NEARLY OVER 8 YEARS OF BEING AWAY FROM WWE!!! Je'von Evans looks at Enzo in awe, Dragon Lee is surprised, and most of all, Big Cass is absolutely shocked that his old tag team partner has returned to WWE after over 8 years of being away from the company. Cass and Enzo share a tense moment between one another, before they both share a hug to one another. This may be a huge pop of the night, but Enzo's return is only just the beginning.

  1. Nikki Bella vs Paige - Last Woman Standing Match

Here is your winner...Paige!!!

It was a hard fought battle between the two former friends, but Paige was the one who survived and won the match after she not only put Nikki Bella through the announce table, but also got her back into the ring to do her signature Ram-Paige move to make sure that Nikki doesn't get back up for the full count to 10.

Afterwards, Brie Bella helps her sister, Nikki, get back up, and both of them glare at Paige coldly as she (Paige) looks towards the two Bella Twins with a smirk on her face. The match might be over, but their story wasn't finished yet!

  1. Baron Corbin (c) vs Carmelo Hayes vs Trick Williams (w/Lil’ Yachty) (Men’s United States Championship) - Triple Threat Match

Winner…and STILL THE WWE United States Champion…Baron Corbin!!!

It was a pretty cool match between all 3 of these men, but it was thanks to Ricky Saints helping out Baron Corbin, despite him not wanting to (but he appreciated it), by screwing over both Trick and Hayes that gave Corbin the win to retain his U.S. Championship.

Baron Corbin held up his US Championship as he was leaving, with Ricky Saints following behind him with a smirk on his face. Trick Williams, Lil’ Yachty, and Carmelo Hayes all looked at both the United States Champion and Ricky Saints with sheer anger in their eyes, now looking for revenge against both of them for what happened tonight.

  1. Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton - Falls Count Anywhere Match

Here is your winner..."The Viper" & "The Apex Predator" Randy Orton!!!

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton go at each other viciously with a huge brawl in the ring to start the match, and soon, it went into absolute chaos. All over the arena, both of these former allies threw everything at each other, both objects and their own moves. However, when they got back into the ring, Randy Orton did a big RKO to Cody Rhodes, went for the full cover, and it gave him the win, with his own theme song playing as he’s celebrating his victory over Cody Rhodes.

However, as The “Apex Predator” left, Cody Rhodes got back up and someone handed him a mic to speak:

Cody Rhodes: “Hey Randy!!! Where the hell are you going, huh? Going to celebrate your victory tonight? Well, guess what! I still want to end the Viper that’s inside of your head!!!”

The audience applauds loudly, as Randy Orton looks at his former mentee viciously. Cody Rhodes then says this:

Cody Rhodes: “So here’s how we’re going to do Round 2!!! ME AND YOU, AT MONEY IN THE BANK, IN A NEW ORLEANS STREET FIGHT!!!

Cody Rhodes pants heavily as he says, and he ends off by saying…

Cody Rhodes: “Randy…do you…accept?”

Cody drops his mic after he asks that question. There is a moment of silence, as “The Viper” is given a mic of his own, and he doesn’t give time to say this answer.

Randy Orton: “Well, Cody…you’ve certainly given me a great time to get my full hands on you. So therefore…(takes a deep breath)…I ACCEPT.

Randy Orton drops his mic, and both men leave as Cody Rhodes’ music plays now. Both men are eagerly excited to get their hands on each other once again, but this time, at Money In The Bank in New Orleans.

Promo: Bron Breakker calls out Oba Femi for a challenge (and this might be a new addition for MITB’s match card 😏)

It’s almost time for the main event, but as Michael Cole & Wade Barrett were just about to talk about what led up to the main event of Sunday Night’s Main Event, Bron Breakker’s music plays and then he comes out with a mic.

However, he is on his own this time, with no Vision members by his side…or so everyone thought that he was. When his theme song stops playing, Bron Breakker looks furious, and his eyes look as if he wants to break “The Ruler” in half. He calls out Oba Femi, and tells him to come out here, “RIGHT!! NOW!!” as Bron put it.

The lights dim for a few seconds, as Oba Femi’s entrance music plays. Oba Femi walks into the ring as people chant “Oba!! Oba!! Oba!! Oba!!” while he was doing his signature Oba Strut walk while heading towards the ring. Once he enters the ring, he then turns towards the front of the screen and does his signature Ruler pose to the audience as the lights dim once again. Afterwards, the lights go back on again.

Both men (with mics in their hands), both claimed to be the “leaders of the next generation” in WWE, stare at each other for a long time. They had an intense promo, confronting each other over the idea of being the true leader of the new generation. They shared their thoughts on NXT, and what their times on NXT have meant to them (and trust me, they’re very different from each other) compared to how well they’re doing on the main roster. They even go as far as to compare and contrast each other.

At one point, Oba even points out a big difference that he himself and Bron have: Oba fights his battles on his own, while Bron has a group of guys who Bron himself claimed that they are “men who want to do nothing more than to dominate the company and achieve absolute power”. Oba says that in reality, they are nothing more but mere cowards.

Bron gets even more furious with Oba Femi, and then goes on to explain why every superstar in the “new generation” sucks, from his perspective really. However, he hates Oba Femi most of all for being the one to claim that he’s the “leader of the new generation”, when Bron himself is supposed to be called that.

Oba Femi is unfazed, and wants to fight him one-on-one tonight. The crowd cheers, but Bron Breakker denies the challenge that Oba Femi puts down. However, Bron Breakker isn’t shown to be a coward as Bron drops the mic and Bronson Reed comes into the ring alongside him.

Oba Femi isn’t scared one bit, as The Ruler brawls with The Vision’s two big boys. After Oba did a Fall from Grace to Breakker, and then catches Bronson Reed attempting to Tsunami him with a Vertical Powerslam!!!

Bron Breakker then gets back up, stares at Oba Femi, and picks up his mic to lay down the challenge that he wants.

Bron Breakker: “Money in the Bank, New Orleans. Extreme Rules.

Bron Breakker drops his mic, glaring at Oba Femi as he leaves the ring alongside Bronson Reed. Oba Femi leaves the ring shortly afterwards, leaving with nothing on his mind but the Extreme Rules match with Breakker at MITB.

  1. MAIN EVENT: Roman Reigns (c) vs Solo Sikoa (World Heavyweight Championship) - Tribal Combat

Winner...and STILL THE World Heavyweight Champion..."The OTC" Roman Reigns!!!

After Solo refuses to join the Bloodline (after he lost to Jey Uso on RAW) and attacks the OTC when Jey Uso gives Solo to Roman, he challenges Roman Reigns to put his World Heavyweight Title on the line at Sunday Night's Main Event...in Tribal Combat. Roman Reigns accepts his former enforcer's challenge, and the match is set for the main event on Sunday.

Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa go all out on each other in their 2nd Tribal Combat match, with lots of weapons being used and tons of outside interference from not only The Bloodline, but also LA Knight (who still wants Roman for the WHC), a returning Royce Keys, and even a surprising debut from NXT. At the end of the match, the surprising debut arrives in the form of....ZILLA FATU!!! He does a powerful Spinebuster to Solo's back, then uses his primary Triple Z finisher to give Roman Reigns the chance to spear Solo, and retain his World Heavyweight Championship!!!

However, after the match, as the entire Bloodline leaves, LA Knight gets a mic out on his hand. He then tells the entire Bloodline that he's getting real tired of all of this going on, and wants Roman Reigns to face him for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank. Knight asks Roman if he accepts his challenge while still holding the mic in his hand.

Roman Reigns is then given a mic, and then says to LA Knight, "Give me some time to think about it, and I'll tell you tomorrow if I accept.". Roman Reigns drops his mic, then leaves the ring with the rest of The Bloodline.

So, there you have it. How I would book Sunday Night's Main Event, with tons of challenges being thrown down for Money in the Bank 2026, all sorts of crazy surprises, and even a tag team title unification match. What are y'all's thoughts on this match card for SNME 2026?
