Trying to do ft8 and I see this weird signal

Keep seeing this weird rolling signal, it sounds like bubbles popping when it hit my ft8 frequency. Any ideas? Checked my coax and line and they seem good.

I think I read too much, which then makes me second guess everything. So let me get some advice here.

I’m a technician who operates on 10/6m ( ssb and ft8). I have a 40m the from reliance antennas. I’ve done inverted V and it worked great. I now redeployed it at home and decided to try and do a sloper. I have the transformer about 15ft up and then I have the actually antenna wire up and draped over the big tree in my back yard. I used a fishing pole and some line to cast a weight over, which I then pulled over a line, and then pulled up the wire. So it’s just draped up there. Seems secure for temporary use. So my questions are—-

  1. What’s best configuration for DX? I know my tech license holds me back and I’m currently studying for general.
  2. How high should I aim to get the feedpoint?(transformer?)
  3. What are the benefits of having like a reverse antenna? Feedpoint high and antenna end low?
  4. Is it normal for my noise floor to change with each configuration?

Thanks everyone,
