for those of you who had a dog during grad school, what was your experience like?

did it help emotionally or mentally, or did it become stressful with research, classes, work, etc.? how hard was it to balance walks, travel, long days on campus, and everything else?

i’m considering getting one eventually and would love to hear honest experiences, both good and bad.
