Withdrawing a claim?
Hello everyone,
Firstly, a huge thank you to the moderators for setting up this new thread and giving up their own time to help people going through a very stressful and isolating experience. It’s certainly appreciated by all of us here.
I have a victimisation claim in England that has been going on for several years in total (if you count the internal grievance investigations, appeals and the legal aspect). I’m currently waiting for a final hearing in 2027 (I know, not far away compared to some), but I’ve finally reached a stage where I’m just tired with it all.
My partner and I want to start a family but this process is a huge cloud above us. I’m fortunate to have legal representation to take away a lot of the stress, but it’s draining a lot of my finances (no LEI) and I’m honestly not even sure if I can afford the final hearing, so I might have to withdraw at some point anyway.
I still work at the employer I am bringing a claim against, but thankfully it’s so large I’ve managed to move into a team away from the problematic area (though I unfortunately do still see the individual(s) around the office from time to time). It’s also a large public sector employer, so settlement seems unlikely and has not been forthcoming thus far.
My question is: can I offer a drop hands settlement or equivalent to the other side, or will this come back to bite me in some unforeseeable way in the workplace?
