Live tooling lathe
Ok lathe nerd. Stick with here kinda long post. I’m running a Nakamura with y axis and live tooling. This part is not cylindrical it’s square and I’ve already milled most of it, but I added a boss that is concentric with the bore I’m trying to put a caming pathway in. Picture a square part with a round boss off center of this square part…I indicated the y axis in flat( this would be a squared flat off of center of my chuck. I then set my c axis on my offset page… that’s how my set up is my cam program.. so in a mill the flat would be my z but this ain’t a mill I know haha.. when i go to run the part its not putting the the pathway in the right spot. What am I missing. I have never tried doing something like this. Usually I’m cutting everything in the same op so first time I’ve tried to indicating a part already milled. Any help would be appreciated.
