How to safely leave… She has a removal order and was supposed to leave since 2005 and she was one of the tens of thousands of people fined 1.8 million. Insane. By any means we could pay this but if anyone could they even stay??
She’s accepted to go back to her country and we are thinking maybe December or January too. The question is they have her passport. How do we safely get her home? I read that if we check in they can detain her right there or flag her to be taken by ICE anytime. We don’t want that. My family wants to call and check in but we don’t want her taken now and of course not anytime soon.. We still need to plan her travel and she is old and has lots of problems to be left alone and we want to avoid being taken in a detention center. If anyone has any advice how to safely go back home or what steps to take.
I keep reading immigration lawyers too but I know they are expensive. Should we still get one for assistance to get home? I want to fight this but she has accepted to leave to avoid cost. TIA.. they also have her passport so I can’t just buy a plane ticket.
