I’ve been dealing with recurring mild injuries for weeks while preparing for IM Cascais: shin splints, achilles and posterior tibialis tendinitis from running, as well as plica syndrome and quadriceps tendinitis from cycling.
Although I’ve been able to cross-train (elliptical, stair master, swimming), I decided to stop my preparation, defer my entry to next year, and start completely from scratch with very low volume in both running and cycling.
All these injuries have been really frustrating and were taking away the already limited time I had to prepare.
I could have waited another five months before requesting the deferral, but mentally I needed a blank slate to restart and build from
Now I have learnt from my mistakes and I have 17 months to train and gradually increase the volume
