OBJECTIVES FOR BIO EXPERIMENTS

  • GUYS these are all the objectives in our syllabus that are about investigating I hope I got them all someone please cross check and also study about catalase enzyme and hydrogen peroxide because the examiner loves to ask abt it AND ALSO learn some general ways to improve results of experiment and which variables to keep constant and ALSO ABOUT CONTROLS IN EXPERIMENTS AND GENERAL SAFETY HAZARDS like if were using a bunsen burner then we should use tongs and wear gloves or if using a knife, cut away from ourselves and stuff like that I hope this helps and PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF US KE PAPER ASAAN AYE also for the experiment question, make sure to tell about constant variables and also a control if applicable and try to state a safety hazard and state that repeat experiment and take average ( if numerical values) to obtain RELIABLE results not ACCURATE cuz ive seen marking schemes deduct marks for this! accuracy can be improved by using apparatus with a high resolution and avoiding parallel error. Also, if a two marker comes on why repeating experiments is useful so the twi points are to make results reliable and identify anomalous values! below are the objectives I took from our syllabus and someone please cross check if I missed any investigating objective GOOD LUCK EVERYONEEEE
  • Examine under the microscope, animal cells and plant cells from suitable material using an appropriate staining technique.
  • Investigate the factors that influence diffusion, limited to: surface area, temperature, concentration gradient and distance.
  • Investigate the effects on plant tissues of immersing them in solutions of different concentrations.
  • Investigate osmosis using materials such as dialysis tubing.
  • Investigate and describe the effects of temperature and pH on enzyme activity.
  • Investigate the need for chlorophyll, light and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, using appropriate controls.
  • Investigate the effect of varying light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration and temperature on the rate of photosynthesis using submerged aquatic plants and hydrogencarbonate indicator solution.
  • Investigate, using a suitable stain, the pathway of water in a cut stem.
  • Investigate the effects of wind speed, light intensity and temperature variation on transpiration rate.
  • Investigate and explain the effect of physical activity on rate and depth of breathing.
  • Investigate and describe the effect of temperature on respiration in yeast.
  • Investigate and explain the effect of physical activity on heart rate.
  • Investigate gravitropism and phototropism in shoots and roots.
  • Investigate and describe the structure of a seed.
  • Investigate and state the environmental conditions that affect germination of seeds, limited to: suitable temperature, water and oxygen.
  • Investigate and describe examples of continuous and discontinuous variation.
  • also ratta all the food tests and how to carry them out experimentally
